The Parade Grounds have always hosted activities as varied as ball playing for the military staff or the first Missoula airplane departure in 1911. [See history section.]
Contemporary events take place in both sections of the Parade Ground. The main parade ground stretches across acres of green lawn bordered by Officers' Row and T-2, aka Heritage Hall.
An additional parade ground across from the T-2 entrance along the southern border of the NRHC campus offers a more intimate setting. In the summer this area is popular for weddings under the stately evergreens.
